UBUNTU & EQ - Revitalisierung von Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft mit Truida Prekel

18 Sep. 2009, 16:00h - 18:30h

"Diversity revisited – How to be both different and innovative" - Impulsreferat unseres reisenden Mitglieds aus Capetown: Truida Prekel (in deutscher Sprache).

Ubuntu ... essence of being human...the fact that my humanity is caught up and is inextricably bound up in yours. A person with ubuntu is welcoming, hospitable, warm and generous, willing to share...open and available to others, affirming of others; does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for they have a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that they belong in a greater whole and are diminished when others are humiliated or diminished. Words of                   Bishop "DESMOND TUTU"

Geplante Themen sind:

Diversity in ideas and cultures – to revitalise business and community
Revitalise ourselves – through diversity in ideas and cultures
The 3 Rs : Recognition, Respect & Relationships – for innovative communities
Diversity and Innovation – Two sides of the same coin
Sharing energies and ideas in cultures and in business
Ubuntu Culture, EQ and Creativity – for innovative communities

Truida's activities at EWMD

She has been a member (on and off) of EWMD from the late 1980s, probably 1987 – when she was still at UNISA SBL, which belonged to EFMD, when EWMD was started.

Attended German EWMD conference in Munchen in ??1990 or 1991 – met people like Ariane Berthoin Antal and Juliane Kronen

In 1993 when living in Dortmund for 5 months, regularly attended meetings in Frankfurt and Köln / Düsseldorf.  The people she met then made my months in Germany much more enjoyable and interesting, also hospitality from several EWMD members.

In 1995 she presented paper at EWMD conference in Philadelphia.

Over the years – she has welcomed several EWMD members (German and Swiss) who visited South Africa, and introduced them to relevant interesting people; have also visited some EWMD members when travelling in Europe.

On current trip, met with EWMD members in Barcelona, Slovenia, Bodensee (Stuttgart chapter), Köln, and Frankfurt.
