Nicholas McKinley

Chief Executive Officer of Aga Khan Foundation Portugal

Nicholas McKinlay has been Chief Executive Officer of Aga Khan Foundation Portugal since September 2007.  Nicholas joined the Aga Khan Development Network in 1997 as Director of Programmes and Partnerships for the Aga Khan Foundation in London and then in 2001 moved to Delhi as Chief Executive Officer for Aga Khan Foundation India.

Born in the UK, he obtained his undergraduate degree in Human Pyschology and Social Policy at the University of Loughborough and was awarded an MBA with distinction from the University of Liverpool.

Nicholas started his career in social services at a local government authority in London. His international experience also includes coordinating community development and psycho-social support to refugees and asylum seekers in South-east Asia and working for a consortium of leading UK universities providing technical assistance to international social development projects.

Nicholas has completed advanced management and leadership courses at Babson College in the USA and at the Indian Institute of Management.
