Daimler AG with its businesses Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, Daimler Financial Services, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Daimler Buses, is a globally leading producer of premium passenger cars and the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the world. The Daimler Financial Services division has a broad offering of financial services, including vehicle financing, leasing, insurance and fleet management.

Daimler sells its products in nearly all the countries of the world and has production facilities on five continents.

As global employer with a strong focus on sustainable growth, Daimler places high value on Diversity and Diversity Management. Diversity refers to the pool of similarities and differences of people within the organization and external stakeholder groups such as customers, partners and suppliers. Daimler commits to the diversity mix most beneficial to its overall business goals – naturally including considerations like gender, age, life style, background or education.

Daimler engages intensively in Diversity Management activities since 2005. The first focus for the company was improving Gender Diversity. Measures were established and competencies are trained which are geared to improve (gender) diversity, and at the same time embrace and make use of the existing diversity with respect to managing people, relationships, processes and product development. Line and HR managers collaboratively monitor and continuously steer toward company-specific diversity goals.

Among the numerous diversity management activities of Daimler are Diversity Workshops for all executives, an anti-discrimination online training, aspirational guidelines, mentoring for female executives, and women's conferences. Till 2020, Daimler aspires to reach 20 percent women in management positions.

In addition to Gender Diversity activities, Daimler extends its focus towards the internationalization of management and generation management starting in Fall 2008.

For 2010 Daimler’s goal is to become one of the most respected automobile company for Diversity Management.

Daimler has been a EWMD Corporate Member since 1999 and in addition has been supporting the network as workshop host, through workshops, with guest speakers, as well as a sponsor for conferences. With EWMD Daimler female executives have encountered an excellent base to network, connect with female role models in leadership and exchange experiences across company boundaries.
