Reggio Emilia Churches and Organs

Sandra Barbieri, EWMD Reggio Emilia and Modena member, in collaboration with Maestro Renato Negri, a wonderful organ player and musician, and our friend, organized the tour “Churches and music from Reggio” on Saturday, April 11, 2015 starting from the Musical School “Achille Peri” in Via Dante Alighieri 11- Reggio Emilia. The schedule consisted of five steps:

1st: Visit to the Peri School for “Basics on the functioning of the organs”,

2nd: Visit to Saint Domenico’s church- of Baroque architecture – dating back to 1586,

3rd: Reggio Emilia Cathedral, recently renewed and restored,

4th: the Baptistery (Saint John the Baptist Church) with its great choir and its eighteen-century structure, where e an Organ concert is organized from time to time

5th: Madonna della Ghiara’s church where, by going up to the choir area, a gorgeous bird’s-eye view of the Blessed Virgin’s temple can be enjoyed.

Renato Negri showed all the Organs present in these places and even played them, showing the participants how hard this discipline is!

The proceeds collected will be donated to the “Support Funds for students at the musical institute Peri
